From a young age, Ben has been passionate not only about the performing arts, but also about business, branding, and creating meaningful experiences for others. Building a successful performing arts school and creative business was a long-standing ambition, combining his love for performance with his entrepreneurial vision.
Dancecode was the result of years of planning, creativity, and dedication. Alongside his business partner, Ben identified an opportunity to bring a performing arts community to an area of the UK without an established dance school, creating a space where young performers could develop their skills, confidence, and passion for the arts.
Within its first year, Dancecode grew to around 200 students and has continued to evolve, inspiring the next generation of performers while building a strong creative community.
Teaching and directing are a huge passion of Ben’s, with a focus on inspiring, encouraging, and empowering the next generation of performers. Through his work, he aims to create an environment where students can develop their skills, build confidence, and experience the excitement of performing on stage.
As part of Dancecode’s journey, Ben established a programme of regular performance opportunities, including two major productions each year alongside numerous local events and community performances.
In 2018, Dancecode presented its first major theatre production at The Venue MK Theatre. Ben played a key role in bringing the production to life, from choreographing and designing the show to editing music, creating costumes, planning lighting, coordinating photography, and collaborating with local charities. The production reflected his passion for creating professional, memorable experiences while giving young performers the opportunity to showcase their talent.
Each year, Dancecode held its annual DCA Awards Show, celebrating and recognising the achievements, dedication, and progress of its students throughout the year.
During Ben’s time as Founder and Creative Director, Dancecode built strong connections within the local community, successfully collaborating with a variety of organisations and providing students with opportunities to perform at exciting events across Milton Keynes and beyond.
In 2019, Ben choreographed and directed a 20-minute performance piece for Dancecode, giving students the opportunity to showcase their talent on an international stage at Disneyland Paris.
Alongside regular classes, Dancecode also offered specialist workshops led by industry professionals, providing students with valuable opportunities to develop their skills, gain insight into the performing arts industry, and learn from experienced creatives.
